Max's #PusoToTheMax Cheer

Max's launches Gilas Favortie Takeout Treat Promo

Max's Restaurant has positioned themselves squarely behind the SMART Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team.

One remembers those #PusoToTheMax billboards all across the metro, and of course, the "Dito" ad released over a month ago:

As part of their continued support, Max's recently launched the "Gilas Favorite Delivery Treat," which is one Max's fried chicken, with a free bottle of banana catsup as well as a limited-edition Gilas Pilipinas Eco Bag. You can have that combo sent to almost wherever for just PhP 299.

Just before the ill-fated "Last Home Stand," Max's invited some bloggers to partake of the three new dips alongside the "sarap-to-the-bones" Pinoy-style fried chicken as an appetizer to what would have been the main course of an event. Well, we know what happened at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum instead.

The new additional dips are the gravy dip (that some have said looks like one from Pancake House, which Max's took over and merged recently), chili sauce and Pinoy Sarsa (ala the fabled Mang Tomas at home)

In addition to tasting the new dips, they also revealed the winners of a couple of contests Max's had, with the reward being a chance to fly to Spain and watch Gilas play. Congratulations to winners Pauline Vislenio and Jennifer Tayag Dueñes who will both be witness to the FIBA World Cup festivities in Seville.

Cosmos to make Philippine debut this Wednesday

On March 12, the Filipino and other Asian viewers will be witnessing a new way at looking at the universe.

Fox, as well as the National Geographic Channel, will be premiering the highly anticipated and groundbreaking series, Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, at 10pm this Wednesday.

An update on the award-winning 80s landmark series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, Cosmos illustrates how humans developed their concept of the laws of nature and its place in the universe. The first episode, which Fox and NatGeo held a private screening last Friday, expounds on that, leaving me very impressed.

The updated Cosmos reimagined classic quirks like the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination from the original series, hosted by the legendary Carl Sagan. It also integrates new styles of storytelling with things that were not existent back in the day, with the addition of CGI and other visual effects.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane spearheaded the project, with the help of Sagan's collaborators for the original series, Ann Druyan and Steven Soter. In this way, Cosmos remains true to what Sagan's vision with in the original while allowing the viewer to see new insights about their universe.

Hosting the series is author and astrophysicst Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who shared his relationship with Sagan during the first episode.

The 7-11 Gulp Election Campaign returns

Back in 2010, 7-Eleven (locally licensed by Philippine Seven Corporation) launched its local 7-Election campaign, an unofficial and unscientific poll to determine which presidential candidate does its customers prefer, through the use of specially marked Gulp® cups. Noynoy Aquino netted 38% in the Gulp ballot, while he actually garned 39% in the COMELEC count.

This year, 7-Eleven is bringing back its award-winning 7-Election campaign for the 2013 Senatorial elections. Customers can pick which senatorial coalition they prefer, from the yellow of Team PNoy, to the orange of the UNA, to the white of the independent candidates. For one 16oz Gulp® purchase, one vote will be awarded to which color they selected. In case a customer picked the white option, they can specifically selection which independent group they are backing by picking which barcode to have scanned in making the purchase.

With all 7-Eleven stores able to track the sales of the cups, 7-Eleven will be able to provide updates on which coalition the paying public prefers. Updates in the leaderboard are conducted weekly and will be posted on all the stores. They also will post these on their website, through social media (you can monitor with the #7Election hashtag), and at selected billboards across Metro Manila, with the last tally to be announced on May 7.

A new wrinkle to their campaign is their online vote. You can go to the website and pick your candidate/s. You can also share whom you voted online. Like in the actual election, you can only vote once, essentially inculcating the user of the value of the ballot.
