Cosmos to make Philippine debut this Wednesday

On March 12, the Filipino and other Asian viewers will be witnessing a new way at looking at the universe.

Fox, as well as the National Geographic Channel, will be premiering the highly anticipated and groundbreaking series, Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, at 10pm this Wednesday.

An update on the award-winning 80s landmark series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, Cosmos illustrates how humans developed their concept of the laws of nature and its place in the universe. The first episode, which Fox and NatGeo held a private screening last Friday, expounds on that, leaving me very impressed.

The updated Cosmos reimagined classic quirks like the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination from the original series, hosted by the legendary Carl Sagan. It also integrates new styles of storytelling with things that were not existent back in the day, with the addition of CGI and other visual effects.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane spearheaded the project, with the help of Sagan's collaborators for the original series, Ann Druyan and Steven Soter. In this way, Cosmos remains true to what Sagan's vision with in the original while allowing the viewer to see new insights about their universe.

Hosting the series is author and astrophysicst Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who shared his relationship with Sagan during the first episode.
