Sucker Punch

It has been a while since I last watched a movie in a theater. Thanks to the Razkals, especially to @BlueHairedFan, I was coaxed out of the comfy confines of home to check out Greenbelt 3 for this motion picture. It also served as a prep activity for us as we were to undertake the tweetcast of the final AFC Challenge Cup Group Stage match between the Philippines and Bangladesh.

Sucker Punch was helmed by Zack Snyder, who was responsible for 300 and The Watchmen and you can see that he used a lot of the elements from those movies onto this one. It had a feel of a graphic novel that came to life, with all the vibrancy and its jarring sense of reality and fantasy coming together.

Starring Emily Browning (best known as Violet on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events), Abbie Cornish (best known as the girl who caused the Resse Weatherspoon - Ryan Philippe break-up), Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical note), Jena Malone and Jamie Chung. Also starring in this movie is Mad Men's Jon Hamm and Scott Glenn who's eerily channeling the memory of David Carradine with his character.

Why you should watch the movie:

1. The ladies are really sexy and seductive. In other words, a fanboy's dream.

2. The surreal visual effects.

3. A soundtrack that truly does rock.

The movie was just released in the Philippines yesterday (March 25). Here is the trailer:
